Jenkins Group and IndependentPublisher.com are proud to announce the winners of the 2017 Living Now Book Awards, designed to recognize the year’s best world-changing books. For the ninth year, “books for better living” were chosen for their unique ability to enrich readers’ lives and promote global sustainability. This year’s contest resulted in an exceptionally impressive list of inspiring books, a testament to the dedication of authors and publishers today.

 

104 gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded to books in 34 categories, ranging from cooking and coloring books to metaphysics and meditation. “This year’s medalists demonstrate how inspirational a good book can be,” says Awards Director Jim Barnes. “Books are a lifeline in a storm, giving readers solid, helpful information when they need it most.”

 

Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics by Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Catherine Barnhoorn was awarded a Bronze Living Now Award in the Cookbooks – Natural, Nutrition, Organic, Vegetarian Category.

GourmandBest in the World’ Cookbook Award won by South African self-published and first time author.

 

Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics by Knysna local Catherine Barnhoorn has been awarded the prestigious Gourmand ‘Best in the World’ Cookbook Award in the First Book category at the glamorous ceremony held in China on 28 May.

 

Catherine, who created the recipes, wrote and designed the book, competed against authors from Mauritius, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines and Togo. “This is a dream come true,” Catherine said after accepting the award. “It was an honour to have Mila’s Meals nominated alongside the other inspiring titles. Receiving this award is validation for the hard work, blind faith, love and passion I have poured into this project.”

2017 Indie Book Award Winners Announced

 

New York – Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group (IBPPG) has named the best indie books of 2017 and ‘Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics’, has been placed as a Finalist in the HEALTH/WELLNESS (NON-FICTION) Category.

 

The Next Generation Indie Book Awards, is the largest not-for-profit book awards program for independent publishers and self-published authors. The winners and finalists will be honored May 31 at the Harvard Club in New York City during BookExpo America.

 

The awards are judged by leaders of the indie book publishing industry, including many with long careers at major publishing houses. Their love of a great read and experience in the publishing arena identify books deserving a wider audience.

South African cookbook, Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics, shortlisted for Gourmand ‘Best in The World’ Cookbook Award.

 

7 February 2017 – Knysna, South Africa – I am proud to announce that Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics has been shortlisted for a renowned publishing award – the Gourmand World Cookbook Award’s ‘Best in the World’.

 

Mila’s Meals is representing South Africa in the Food Culture section of the awards following the ‘Best in South Africa’ Gourmand Award earlier this year in the Self-Published category, which qualified the book to represent South Africa in Gourmand International’s Best In The World Awards. Mila’s Meals is shortlisted in the First Book category.

“I am truly honoured to receive such an accolade, especially since Mila’s Meals is my first book and it is self published (I wrote it, created the recipes and designed the book) and it is competing with so many large, established publishing companies from around the globe. This endorsement of the hard work and blind faith over the three and a half years it took to complete the book will hopefully lead to a publishing deal for the next two books I have in mind – Mila’s Medicine and Mila’s Meals: Lunchboxes & Celebrations” says author Catherine Barnhoorn.
