Are you wondering what the differences are between the first and second edition of my nutrition and cookbook ‘Mila’s Meals: The Beginning & The Basics’?
[/vc_column_text]
If you are discovering the book for the first time, you can read more about it here.
Here’s a brief rundown…
1. The second edition of the book has been through another round of proofreading and editing.
Which means dashes were changed to EM dashes (insert groaning face emoji here!) and all other grammar has been polished.
2. An all-new comprehensive index – 11 pages in total!
Now you will be able to find absolutely every morsel of information in the book. And, to assist with meal planning and to avoid allergens, recipes are cross-referenced against all ingredients included in the recipe.

3. Updated nutrition information
Where new research has uncovered new information. For example – all mentions of vitamin K have been updated to refer to either vitamin K1 or vitamin K2 (blog post on the significance of vitamin K2 coming soon).
4. An updated food introduction chart.

4. And new covers!

Yearssssss instead of year! Because this book is used for years – not just the first year of your little one’s food journey (#copywritingfail on the first edition).
Other revisions and additions include:
[unordered_list style=’circle’ number_type=’circle_number’ animate=’no’ font_weight=”]
- Updated food sourcing information. For example, the new 2019 Dirty Dozen List.
- Revised recipes including the updated Goat’s Milk Formula, and corrected Sweet Potato Bread, Ontbijtkoek, Chicken Balls, Sweet Potato Muffins recipes, and new extra’s to recipes such as the Boo Boo Smoothie and others.
- New information such as information on cultured foods, how to make buckwheat flour and a section on additional uses of salt.
- More conscious equipment choices such as Stasher Bags instead of Ziploc bags! (Wow – how the global consciousness has shifted on the plastic issue since I first printed the book!)

As an integrative doctor I realise that healing starts at home. We are taught so little about nutrition in medical school, that having a ‘Go To’ book in the practice is superb. I often refer parents to it and encourage them to read it cover to cover. I have seen the changes in the little ones’ health and love it when the children become the agents of change for the whole family.
I look forward to seeing this book translated in multiple languages.”

What inspired me the most was how Catherine was able to pull these amazing healthy creations together while still running a business and caring for a toddler.
I highly recommend this well-researched textbook on healthy nutrition masquerading as a delightful recipe book!”

And last, but by no means least…
Another addition to the second edition is sponsorship!
Producing a book while being an independent author (that is, I have published this book myself) requires a significant financial investment. To aid with the costs of producing this book, I approached like-minded brands to contribute by way of sponsorship and collaboration.
I was delighted to have Good Life Organic and Drasanvi Superfoods South Africa accept the invitation to partner with me. With their financial contribution, I was able to spend three months working solely on revising the book (something a publisher’s advance payment would normally allow an author to do).
You will see their logos on the copyright page of the book as well as some of their products mentioned in the book where relevant.
You can try their products for yourself when you purchase one of their pre-order bundles via the Mila’s Meals online shop.
**stock of these bundles is limited so get one while you can!**
Loved the first book. Can’t wait to have the second edition.
Excited to get my hands on a copy and try out some new recipes for my girls! They both have several food allergies so am looking for another book to add to my collection
This is soooo awesome! Definitely wanting the second addition also.. might gift someone with my first addition then
This book should be a must in every home & as a mum i am keen to learn more about the nutritional values of everyday foods & gain inspiration so i can cook healthy delicious meals.
Awesome book
I definitely want this second edition! As a mom with dairy and gluten intolerance, this will help me a lot!
Haven’t worked my way through your first book and love the recipes and info. Looking forward to the second edition.
Loved your first book. We’re still using recipes from it on a regular basis. I’m sure your second edition will be a great hit too!
I can see the difference in my friends toddlers who eats from Mila’s meals and those that don’t. I got the 2nd edition as a ebook and would love a hard copy. Can’t wait to make those nutrient dense meals for my little boy.
The only item on my Christmas wishlist I have been following all your posts and recipes and can’t wait for the book to become available.
I love everything I’ve hear about this book and I’d love to get my hands on the 2bd edition. I have 2 little boys, and one has allergies so I need loads of help with ideas of what healthy meals to make apart from what I’m used to making. His big brother is also quite sickly, so I’m sure eliminating some things from his diet will help me pick up if he’s sensitive to any of the things he’s been eating regularly.
1st Edition was amazing! Can’t wait to see what has been updated 😀
I definitely want this second edition!
I can’t tell you how excited I am that Mila’s Meals is available again! I personally refer to this book daily and I recommend it to so many patients, whether they have children or not. It is so difficult to know what is safe to eat these days and this book clarifies the topic beautifully.
I love th Halloween ideas!
So exited about this book! Definately getting it! Cant wait to start trying it out!
Can’t wait to get myself the book, my son is a super picky eater and I need ideas to get him to eat more healthy.
I strive to be as passionate and diligent about nutrition as Catherine is. This is absolutely amazing and hopefully just the nudge I need.
Congratulations on your second book!
Loved the 1st ed & still using it. Looking forward to the 2nd ed.
The first edition changed my life! Need the second one too! 🙂
Can’t wait for the new book
I would love to have this book!
I would love to have this book!!!
Cannot wait to see the new version! It definitely is an essential in every household 😉
What an amazing and resourceful book. Can’t imagine trying to take-on the weaning and feeding journey of the little ones without this on hand. Would love to get my hands on a copy of the 2nd edition.
This is exactly what I am asking Father Christmas for. This book is amazing!
