A nutrient-dense lunch box which is also gluten-, dairy & refined-sugar free! AND it only took 5 minutes to prepare in the morning!⁠

In this lunch box:⁠
💚 Protein: hiding in the gluten-free wrap is chicken mayonnaise. (Lunch box hack: cook extra the night before and use leftovers!). Pistachio nuts and homemade "fruit" roll also good sources of protein. ⁠

💚 Healthy Fats: Pistachio nuts and "fruit" roll. This "fruit" roll really has very little fruit 😂 It is made from: fresh pineapple, baked sweet potato, steamed apple, Freshly pressed Kale Juice, morninga powder, spirulina, baobab powder, chia seeds, hemp seeds, @crede_natural_oils Coconut Oil, Coconut Milk, @phytoforce Milkthistle Tea, Dandelion Tea, Olive Leaf Tea, Nettle Tea, fresh Lemon Juice.⁠

💚 Protein: no-nonsense dried boerewors from @farmerangusspier, homemade activated & salted cashew nuts from @ohmega_nutbutters and homemade hummus in the ancient grain cracker sandwich. Totally delicious and moreish crackers from @earthandcosouthafrica (the crackers themselves are a good source of protein thanks to the quinoa, sorghum and millet!)⁠

💚 Healthy Fats: cashew nuts, organic beef (dried boerewors) and hummus (made with olive oil not canola oil!)⁠

Do you read the ingredient labels and think “oh

Do you read the ingredient labels and think “oh 33g’s of sugar is not a lot?” I mean, when you weigh ± 60kg, 33g’s is tiny!⁠

I couldn’t picture how much sugar 33g’s was. Until I learnt this equation!⁠
⁠
33g’s of sugar = 8.2 teaspoons of sugar.⁠
⁠
Why is that significant?⁠
⁠
That is how much sugar was in the demo lunch box I made (based on what I had seen in children’s lunch boxes at Mila’s school). ⁠
⁠
8 TEASPOONS OF SUGAR! Would you put 8 teaspoons of sugar in your little ones’ tea?⁠

Can children be expected to sit still and concentrate in class after eating 8 teaspoons of sugar?⁠
