Dip Dips & Spreads
Dips are a great way to liven up steamed vegetables, as well as incorporating a variety of additional ingredients and nutrients. They also present an opportunity for a great amount of fun for your little one. Serve them in a little dish on a dinner plate, show him/her how to ‘dip dip’ and watch as they start experimenting with their food.
Mila is usually with me in the kitchen when I am cooking and more often than not she will eat the dips and spreads by the spoonful straight out of the food processor! I encourage this interaction – it is quality time for us, and it is generally the only way she willingly tries new foods.
The spreads have been a really useful way for me to include vegetables in Mila’s diet as she is not too keen on eating hers straight off a plate. Blend them, spread them onto a ‘toastie’ or cracker – and ta da, she loves them!
All the dips and spreads can be frozen, so you can make a big batch, freeze in ice cube trays and defrost as needed.
