So much more than just a cookbook!

Described as “The Tome”, it covers The Why, What and How to begin your little one’s lifelong relationship with food and how the whole family can follow a gluten-free, dairy-free AND refined sugar-free way of eating.

'Mila's Meals: The Beginning & The Basics' covers:

The Why

  • The truth behind common infant food fallacies
  • An exposé of what is really in that convenient, ready-made food and the affect it has on your child physically, mentally and emotionally
  • The importance and maintenance of gut health
  • Reasons to say “No” to gluten, dairy and sugar

The What

  • Detailed chart of essential nutrients, the role they play in physical, mental and emotional health and which foods you can find them in
  • A detailed ingredient glossary explaining the sourcing, preparation, cooking, nutrient content and health benefits of all 156 ingredients used in the book
  • An Appendix with detailed information on The Worst Offenders List of food additives – what they are, their very many disguises (I mean, names), where they are hiding (I mean used) and the effect they have on the human body (physically, mentally and emotionally).

The How

  • How to feed your child (and youself) nutrient-dense foods with over 100 (mostly uncomplicated) recipes made with easy-to-find ingredients
  • ALL recipes are gluten-free, dairy-free AND refined sugar-free
  • They also have #sneakyveggies that not even the fussiest eater will know about!
  • A reintroduction of traditional foods and food preparation techniques (like sauerkraut, slow-cooked bone broths as well as how and why to soak grains)
  • Do-able meals for busy / working parents – food can be made in bulk and frozen

Additional Very Useful Features

  • Includes useful charts: ‘What to Feed When Food Introduction Chart’, ‘The Dirty Dozen’ food list, ‘The Worst Offenders’ food additives & more
  • Features colour photos for every recipe (so even a tired, mushy-mommy brain can digest the information and make a quick decision about what’s for dinner!)
  • White space for tired mommy eyes – and note-making as you learn
  • Caters for those fussy eaters
  • Learn about superfoods
  • Re-learn how to feed yourself
  • Advice for feeding the soul too because no amount of good food will nourish a starving soul

The second edition includes:

  • Revised recipes
  • Updated nutrition information. For example – all mention of vitamin K has been updated to refer to either vitamin K1 or vitamin K2
  • A comprehensive 11-page index. To assist with meal planning and to avoid allergens, recipes are cross-referenced against all ingredients included in the recipe
  • Updated food introduction chart.
  • New information such as additional info on cultured foods, a section on additional uses for salt and more

    A nutrition and food bible

This is truly a nutrition and food bible and every mom should have one.
Never in my life have I come across a book that is so consuming. Every free minute of my day I find myself soaking up every bit of interesting information on each page, each time learning something new and eye-opening. I am a chef, and this book has inspired me so much that I have enrolled to study clinical nutrition.

    It’s so empowering!

Oh who knew Pear pairs so incredibly and deliciously well with Sweet Potato and Butternut. My Buddha baby loves the purées we’re experimenting with him btw
It never occurred to me to pair fruit and veg!!! What a winning combo it turned out to be.
Thanks to Milas Meals – I feel so confident that my kids will get the right amounts of the good stuff. It’s so empowering!
Thank you Catherine for sharing this with the world

A well-researched textbook on healthy nutrition masquerading as a delightful recipe book

I have been teaching healthy food choices to my patients for years, but only after reading Mila’s Meals could I translate that practically to my own toddler’s meals.

What inspired me the most was how Catherine was able to pull these amazing healthy creations together while still running a business and caring for a toddler.

I highly recommend this well-researched textbook on healthy nutrition masquerading as a delightful recipe book!

I recommend it for ALL my patients, young and old

I absolutely love this book! I use it every day and I recommend it for ALL my patients, young and old. I’m so grateful to have found easy and delicious recipes that are gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free. Catherine has also given so much information on how many foods and additives affect our bodies and what to replace them with. What we feed our children affects them not only physically but emotionally and cognitively. How did I ever practice without this book? Thank you Catherine!

An absolute gift to parents and practitioners alike

Mila’s Meals is an absolute gift to parents and practitioners alike.

As an integrative doctor I realise that healing starts at home. We are taught so little about nutrition in medical school, that having a ‘Go To’ book in the practice is superb. I often refer parents to it and encourage them to read it cover to cover.

I have seen the changes in the little ones’ health and love it when the children become the agents of change for the whole family.

I look forward to seeing this book translated in multiple languages.

Thank you for changing my life

I cannot describe the immense feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment after I have cooked a meal using your guidelines.
My new way of preparing food, to make it as nutrient dense as possible, has given me a new purpose and sense of gratification for real food.
After each meal I am proud and feel that I have accomplished so much more than just ‘feeding’ my kids.
After my two-year old was diagnosed with cancer last year, doing enormous amount of research, seeing Profs, Drs, nutritionists….I ultimately landed here – Mila’s Meals has forever changed my life, my outlook on food and nutrition and what I feed my family.
This has had a ripple effect of change on my entire family (parents, two sisters – both with new-borns).
Words cannot describe how thankful I am.

PS – My daughter is now cancer free (received the news this Monday)
Thank you for changing my life.

A must have guide for all young mothers

Food is a basic essential of life. But when food becomes toxic to the body, then it is time to re-evaluate what is in the food. What’s needed? A useful, informative guide to help young mothers feed their children healthy food alternatives, food that not only is safe for the child, but looks good and tastes delicious. That’s where this book comes in handy.

This is a must study, must enjoy, healthy eating alternative not only for feeding children, but also for feeding ourselves as adults.

It’s a tome of a book. Every parent should have a copy

It’s a tome of a book, filled with really useful information applicable to both adults and children alike. With so many littlies out there with constipation, runny noses and ADHD, Catherine has explained the importance of staying clear of gluten, dairy and sugar and supplied alternatives, which include delightful recipe suggestions. All the fun in eating is still there, promise!

This book is a game changer!

This book arrived, I opened it and was astounded and so excited I bounced off my chair with a shriek!

This book is a vital one.

I must admit I haven’t bought cook books or ‘nutritional related books’ for too long now as I am bored to tears of them and haven’t found anything new or inspirational. Add that our understanding of nutrition has moved on and continues to so swiftly, too many are still full of old school dogma and I’ve been waiting for a revival.

This book ticks all those boxes and I think it has X factor.

The size works so beautifully – you feel like you’re holding something valuable, from the first flick through you’re drawn in. The photographs are incredible and the layout is so easy to read.

The information is so well laid out and I love that people can skip to parts and pages for easy reference.

This book is a game changer, it has come at just the right time and I am honored that you sent it to me, thank you so very much.

This has been a breath of fresh air – thank you once again.

    This book is enchanting 🙂

A veritable encyclopaedia worth of knowledge and wisdom

Catherine has managed to fit a veritable encyclopaedia worth of knowledge and wisdom into this beautiful book. Painstaking attention to detail is paid to all things food and health related that we may all have heard of or read about but are unsure of how to integrate into our daily lives.

As a mother, I will value this resource for referring to time and again when preparing food for my family. I will turn to it when deciding on the best choices, in terms of personal and environmental health, while shopping and preparing delicious, healthy meals for my loved ones.

Painstaking attention to detail is paid to all things food and health related that we may all have heard of or read about, but are unsure of how to integrate into our daily lives.

The creative and wholesome recipe ideas will continually be an inspiration in my kitchen, and yours, for years to come!

A wonderfully creative and thoroughly well-researched work

At last, a wonderfully creative and thoroughly well-researched work of immensely helpful and beneficial guidance, for us as parents!

Food and health are inseparable. In today’s information age nutritional concepts can be all too confusing, especially when the information is focused on ‘what’ to eat, rather than exploring and understanding the ‘why’.

This book introduces important and comprehensible ‘why’s’ of applying food as your medicine, while at the same time, offering truly sumptuous and easy-to-follow recipes to give our little genetic investments vibrant health and a greater connection to nature, of which we are all an integral part.

Toward healing, awareness, and peace! Thank you, Catherine.
